Default Guild Hall mortgages

as a money sink, and a way to limit the amount of guild halls...

i suggest a mortgage for guild halls...like in SWG, you have to pay a weekly fee ... like 20k a week to keep your guild hall.

if you lose it, you can get it back easier then when you bought it, but you still dont have one

What a horrible idea...

My guild saved up very hard to get a hall there is no way we would be able to maintain a weekly fee, this would be penalising smaller guilds and rewarding the rich ones as they would be only able to have a guild hall and everyone else would not without having to go farming all the time to pay for it.

A Money Sink idea must always have an effect that doesnt shift gameplay balance or penalise anyone for simply playing the game, it's just a frivoulous waste of money + time which this idea is not.

I agree with the above 2 posts. Try keeping a personal house in DAOC for a few days and you find you end up witha real life job and an in game job.. makes to much hastle.

i too, hate this idea

Guild Halls are already way too expensive. making them have a perpetual fee would be ludicrous

plus, it would go against the spirit of the Guild Wars policy of "no fee to play"

Why would you make guild halls have a perpetual fee, no one would get one, or there would be more blackmailing/illegal dealing to pay for it.

I reject this idea.

OK lets pay for an empty space with a few dirty henchies to hang out.
There's nothing to guild halls as it as.
Now if they wanted to make it so you pay a merch or storage person to hang in your hall kind of like ultima online where you pay a vendor a certain amount per day that would be cool but not just to own the stupid thing I think 60-70k is plent enough.

thats the problem with gamers today...no vision, no creativity...

well heres a solution ...

the fee is proportional to the amount of members...

the thing is... i dont think that EVERYONE should have a guild hall...
just as i think that not EVERYONE should be able to make a guild.

20k was an example for a very large guild...

another thing ... allow payments to be made through fighting other guilds..

even if you lose, you still lower the payment.... call it "gladiators fee" or something wierd like that...

that way, active guilds have guild halls, and nonactive guilds lose them...

20k a week? Thats sounds pretty steep... speaking of vision and creativity, if you would of mentioned something like having a Guild swiming pool or a Club for dancing... that might get better reponses from more people.

The purpose of the game really isn't to discourage people from doing GvG though...you shouldn't get the mentality that because a certain guild isn't as serious about the game as you are that they don't deserve a guild hall to do whatever they want with. I mean, beleive it or not, not all guilds start out as dominant forces in the guild ladder. Even if they're not using their guild hall at all right now, that doesn't mean that they never will. I don't want to have to start dodging my landlord in both real life AND in this game.

just so you know, im in a 8 person RL guild...

by no means do i think i could upkeep the guild hall we havent even gotten yet...

but honestly... being the casual gamers we are...i dont think we deserve the same guild hall that people that invest alot more time deserve...

they could even sell cheaper smaller guilds...

*also i think they should make a different kind of GvG....where its possible to dominate other peoples Guild Halls...like collecting them...Global Domination...

Set guild halls up like a typical instance zone...

go up to district selection screen "Goto "KILL GUILDs HALL"
"Goto "SHADOW CLAN GUILD HALL"
"Goto "THIS GUID HALL"

etc.

i think lineage did something like this...

you set a date for takeover...then people in the guild know when another guild will be invading...

this starts up a whole another thread, which ill post soon
